General

The Rallybolide is a converted Opel Astra F CC 2.0 Gsi 16v built in 1996. It drove in 22 rallies and hill climbs in Croatia from 2005 to 2019 and has earned a reputation as a result.

In March 2020 he was acquired by Geppler Motorsport. As expected, when examining the car it was discovered that the entire car would have to be rebuilt from scratch. For now, basic things such as bearings, seals and screws were replaced. It was then decided that the car should compete in Group F of the DMSB.

After the rules had been studied, the new construction of the Opel could begin. First, however, many different measurements were carried out to calculate an optimal design of the chassis and the weight and braking force distribution. The calculated values were then used to select and install the most suitable dampers, springs, tires, brake cylinders, brake pads, etc. Furthermore, all components such as seats, belts and extinguishing systems were replaced in order to comply with the regulations. After the racing approval from Dekra and the special approval from the TÜV, it was time to test the car.

The setup was accordingly tailored to the mixing conditions of asphalt and gravel. In addition, particular attention was paid to which components last for how long. All of this was documented. Accordingly, certain components were removed and replaced with better ones. Once the car was satisfactory, a few more test drives were completed with a co-pilot in order to be ready to take part in competitions.

Now it is winter 2022 and the car with pilot and co-pilot are ready to race for the coming season.
